Cigar Box Guitars and Amps

These amps are 2.5 watts and are powered by a 9 volt battery. Great sound for such a small circuit board. This  amp with a Western Scene on the face was sold in 2014.

Home made instruments

Alas, after almost 2 years I'm back to blogging! I'm hoping to stay on top of things more regularly now but we'll see. My latest efforts have been focusing on creating some home made stringed instruments.
The first of my new creations have been 3 and 4 string cigar box and tin can guitars. Made from the simplest of materials, I've had some success in building 3 instruments so far. What I mean by "success" is that that they have all been playable and stay in tune. They sound rather convincing as well.

Living bridges

The bridges seen here are constructed by using the roots of the Indian Ficus tree (Ficus Benghalensis). They are found in north western India and some are reported to be over 500 years old! Wow! These are fine examples of organic architecture.

This is a newly finished piece titled "Lichens", acrylic on board 40"x32". It was submitted to the Hunting art prize competition for judging and a chance to win 50K! We'll keep those fingers crossed.
